I know it has been a while since I last uploaded some of my photos, so I figured that instead of making a bunch of old posts that aren’t super relevant anymore, I would just throw a sample photo from each event in and link you to the facebook albums if you cared to see more.
This summer was a busy one. Lots of running around, trying to get my personal life in order. I had to find a new roommate, move out of my apartment, apply to graduate school, and deal with a car that chronically had something wrong with it. I’m glad to say that I did, eventually, find a roommate; we did, with much effort, find a new place to live; I was able to get into graduate school (I’m going to be a psychologist!); and, of course, my car still has problems. On the bright side, I’m glad to say that I am officially the staff photographer of Eastern University’s Fine and Performing Arts Division, so that means more dance, music, and theatre photos will be posted over the course of this year!
And now for the blog posts that should have gone up months ago…
Jessica Czop Headshots
I met Jess back in undergrad some three or four years ago. She happened to be the roommate of one of my co-workers. She was majoring in something biological during her time at school, but has since turned to acting. She must be doing well since she has her own IMDB page! I was thrilled when she told me she wanted me to do some new headshots for her! Maybe someday she’ll get famous and take me along with her…

DVDA’s “An Evening by the Lake”
This was an interesting show to shoot because I was actually in the wings taking these pictures. Standing amongst the dancers. Trying not to be in the way. It all turned out well, though, and the girls did a wonderful job! It was so cute seeing the little kids in their duckling costumes (not pictured above).
Want to see all of these pictures (including the ducklings)? Take a look at the albums on Facebook. There’s a total of three albums posted, so make sure you look at each one!

Jillian Miller @ Chaplin’s Coffeehouse
Jillian and I go way back — to the very first class of our undergraduate careers. She is outstandingly talented and extremely passionate for music, which is obvious to anyone who hears her. This was her first coffeehouse in recent history and has been since invited to open for an act at another coffeehouse in Phoenixville. Hopefully she’ll keep at it — it won’t be long until she’s the headliner!

Another end-of-the-year show, this one was presented by Kat Moorman. Much like a senior recital, Kat and her friends presented a variety of songs from different musicals. Kat has since graduated, but was an active member of the theatre department during her time at Eastern. You might remember her as the lead female character in Carousel. All proceeds from this concert went to charity.

Eastern University had it’s last music concerts of the school year this past weekend. They were amazing! Some of my personal favorites: the University Band, Jazz Band, MIDI Ensemble, Eastern Strings, Orchestra, and the Choir. The Orchestra did a pretty cool original piece set to the silent film “H2O.” They had it playing live on a screen behind them while they performed. It was fantastic, even if it was 12 minutes long 🙂 You can see photos from that piece, as well as everything else on my Facebook page. Don’t forget to ‘like’ it!
Oh, and did I mention that two students got engaged on stage during the final show? That was pretty cool, too.

This engagement was a long time coming, but I only got the tip that it would happen at Eastern University’s Spring Music Festival earlier that morning. I was excited for the opportunity to capture this moment! I wish that the mic stand wasn’t there, but what can you do with an on-stage proposal? The cool part about these two is that they first met in choir. Now they got engaged in choir. How cute!
Oh, she said yes, by the way.
I’m looking forward to working with these two in the future. Can you say “engagement photos?”
More music-related photos from the Spring Music Festival will be posted as soon as they’re ready.

Here’s some photos from the Music Benefit Gala held by Eastern University at Church of the Savior in Wayne, PA. I had my debut as the photographer for the Music Department at last year’s Gala and this year I got to use my brand new Canon 7D camera for the first time! This is always an excellent show, highlighting the talent of Eastern’s music faculty. The highlight of the show is always the piano quartet, which is usually done by pairing these pianist on two pianos. This year they stepped it up and brought in two extra pianos just for them. Four pianos, one piece (see above). How fun!

These are a few photos from Beyond Existence at Eastern University last year. Its amazing what a 50mm prime lens can do when you have concert lighting and a fog machine. Check it out…
On a similar note, I suggested to the powers that be that they talk to Jars of Clay about letting me photograph them for free at their event on campus this year. He laughed and said it sounded like a good idea. I’m pretty sure he thought I was joking though. Oh well.
